PROJECTS IN MIDDLE EAST
We believe that in the Middle East it is imperative to build work environments that have the objective of solving common problems. The unresolved issue is in fact the common ground, more than the moral, philosophical, or political expressions calling for dialogue in times of peace.
There is no better motor for engagement than a specific concrete common problem (such as water shortage, or issues of development, sustainability or education).
The following tremendously innovative projects were funded and executed by Avner Goren and Richard Lester who have worked consistently and effectively for more than 12 years.
KIDRON VALLEY PROJECTS
Joint Palestinian and Israeli development and performance of:
(i) grey and black water recycling facility at Palestinian public schools;
(ii) Palestinian/Israeli sewage system cleaning and improving. 1/3 of Jerusalem sewage used to run untreatead along the dry river-bed of the Kidron, which starts high in Jerusalem and runs down 30 km to the Dead Sea, polluting the environment all along the Valley.
The Project aims at (i) cleaning the whole basin from pollution; and (ii) recycling the sewage into an afluence of usable water for agricultural irrigation purposes.

EDUCATION INNOVATION IN ARAB SCHOOL
Along the Kidron Valley that crosses from the Israeli area to the Palestinian West Bank, there are schools to which Israeli and Palestinian pupils attend. One team of Israeli education experts cooperated with the school’s teachers and management, introducing a new learning method into their system, which improved the children’s behavioral, social and studying capabilities.
This team also developed and implemented Environmental Projects in these schools, which empowered children to become leaders in spreading environmental awareness in their communities.
